13. Esmeralda betrayed

ESMERALDA BETRAYED - voyeur Claude & the stabbing
Claude hides away in a closet in this rented room. A dark deformed waltz plays out the twisted feelings of the two men for the innocent girl. But as Phoebus is about to consummate, Claude cannot bear it. He emerges from hiding and stabs Phoebus with Esmeralda's dagger, then escapes out the window, unrecognized in the dark. Esmeralda screams as the police come and arrest her.
